Chinese Medicine and the use of Hemp in Europe

The father of Chinese medicine and emperor of the same or Shen Nung, used, hemp in his personal Pharmacopoeia (ancient text of medicine), where the first use, was recognized around 270 BC.

Chinese culture became interested in the to the use of this plant from the thousand benefits, through hot drinks to cure internal pathologies of the organism, and through the smoke and its inhalations, it was used for the pains to the teeth or infections that concerned the oral cavity. In the Middle Ages, the use of this plant and its medical benefits, were stopped by the Papal Bull of 1484, when it forbade its use to the Christian faithful.

In Europe, however, news of this plant arrived thanks to the French psychiatrist Jacques-Joseph Moreauwho described the effects of the drug from hashish, once tried by himself. In the nineteenth century, the use of this drug, became so fashionable that they formed in Paris, the clubs intended for his use. Clubs frequented by characters such as Victor Hugo, Dumais, Boudelair.and so on and so forth.

But the use of the plant as a psychoactive came late to Europe, because mainly, it was used for textile purposes. Cannabis as a healing medium arrived in Europe in the late 1800s, possibly brought by Napoleon, who used it for his aches and pains.
